I just took out my new Mossberg for the first time

My brother and i took my new Mossberg to the range yesterday.

It is the Mossberg Tactical 6 Shot 20 Ga./18 1/2" Barrel Cylinder Bore .

Paid 322.00 at Buds Gun Shop.

The indoor range we were at wouldn't let us shoot the birdshot that we had, so we bought some slugs instead. They were the Winchester rifled slugs in 2 3/4 inch ,3/4 ounce.

Holy Crap ! What a freakin blast it was.

We set our target at 20 yards . I decided on head shots just for fun.

Right from the get go i was 5 shots five kills at 20 yards . I was truly amazed.

The gun felt great, and it kicked like a some ma gun . The action was flawless and the target was obliterated.

I love my new Mossberg:banana: This is the first shotgun i have ever owned or fired for that matter. I am hooked.

We also fired my Hi Point 40 Caliber carbine. It was flawless as always.

As a sidenote, is it normal for an indoor range to not allow birdshot ?

The range we went to had just recently enacted that rule. I bought hundreds of rounds of bird shot , and now it looks as if i will have to find an outdoor range . The slugs were alot of fun to shoot, but they are expensive.

I'm assuming it's a model 500, does it have a shoulder stock or is it just pistol gripped? My indoor range won't allow birdshot from the wifes pg 500 due to too many ricochets coming back to the firing line. I never heard anything about mine but it's shoulder fired with 00 and slug alternating.

Yeah, birdshot + indoor range = bad. I would be shocked if you could find any indoor range that would allow it. From both a safety and liability standpoint it is just not good.

My indoor range doesn't allow any long guns of any type.

Thanks for all the replies.

The mossberg i bought has the shoulder stock

I think the Buckshot in 20 gauge would be #2

Will #2 Buckshot in the 3 inch have as much kick as the 2 3/4 inch slug ?

Shooting the slug was fun, but it kicked pretty damn hard.

I bought the 2 3/4 inch #2 buckshot for use in the home. Havent shot that yet.

The indoor ranges in my area all allow carbines and shotguns, i guess i have to consider myself lucky.
